Never Miss out on Audubon Insectarium New Orleans - Getting Down With All That Walks, Buzzes or Crawls
If you are fond of creeping, buzzing and crawling creatures, and if you happen to be in the city of New Orleans, then one of the must-see places for you would be the Audubon Insectarium. It is one of the most renowned museums that have the largest species of insects in the U.S. Run and managed by the Audubon Institute; the Insectarium on the canal street attracts thousands of visitors to this place every year.
This living museum has a range of exhibits, starting from a Japanese butterfly garden to the mighty scorpion pit, and bees and spiders all over the world. There is a metamorphosis laboratory that is equipped with huge glass containers featuring butterflies and showing their various stages of development. This is one of the great sights for visitors. It is interesting to note that there are displays of some pre-historic insects such as giant size dragonfly and monster beetles. There are also separate chambers for bugs and maggots. You can also find a forensic unit and mating chambers for insects and bugs.
The Insectarium is open from 10 am to 6pm everyday, except on Mondays. You can get advanced tickets at the museum premises or book a ticket through the internet. Current tickets are also sold at the counter. Rates for adult visitors are $15.00 and for children it is $10.00. The ticket prices would become much cheaper if you book one for a package trip that includes the aquarium, Insectarium, zoo and the IMAX Theater. You can also enjoy field trips and educational tours organized by the center.
