Louisiana State Museum

Headquartered at New Orleans, Louisiana State Museum was founded in the year 1906 and since then it has become an inseparable part of New Orleans travel deals. A number of National Historic Landmarks are located at different parts of this complex that reflects the historical and cultural significance of the state. Artifacts and diverse works of art are put on the show at various sites of this museum.

French Quarter accommodates five main buildings of the museum. These include the Cabildo, the 1850 House, the OLD US Mint, the Presbytere and Madam John's Legacy. Apart from these five buildings one can find other sites of the museum in New Orleans, including the Arsenal, the Creole House and the Jackson House.

The museum is supported by a number of organizations located in various parts of Louisiana. The most important of these organizations include Baton Rouge Louisiana State Museum, Old Courthouse Museum at Natchitoches, Louisiana State Museum at Patterson and E. D. White Historic Site at Thibodaux.

Some of the exhibits at the Museum include Mardi Gras at the Presbytere, Carnival Costumes at the Presbytere, Two Hundred Years of Louisiana History at the Cabildo and Grounds for Greatness: Louisiana and the Nation at Baton Rouge.
