New Orleans Morial convention centre is a prominent convention centre in New Orleans, Louisiana. Ernest N. Morial Convention Centre was re-christened as the New Orleans Morial convention centre in the year 2008. Named in the honor of Ernest N. Morial, the former mayor of New Orleans, the convention centre is situated on the banks of the river Mississippi.

Ranked the sixteenth largest facility in America, the conventional centre was opened in the year 1985. The New Orleans Morial convention centre is located closer to the famous landmarks of New Orleans like the Jackson Square, the Aquarium of the Americas and the French Quarter.

The New Orleans convention centre is formed from many constituent portions. The first part was built during the 1984 Louisiana World exposition and the centre expanded with a series of additions. The New Orleans Morial Convention centre has over three million square feet of space and a million square feet of exhibit space that covers around 11 blocks. The continuous space covering over a million square feet can be sectioned into twelve separate halls that can host many events at a time.

A large complex, the convention centre has 140 meeting rooms, two large ball rooms and an auditorium with the capacity of over 4,000 seats divided into three distinct sections. Considered the second busiest convention centre, New Orleans convention centre is an important tourist spot during New Orleans travel.

When Hurrican Katrina ravaged through New Orleans, the New Orleans Morial Convention Centre served as the second major shelter for the distraught people. The Centre was transformed into a temporary medical facility for the survivors. Later, the survivors were evacuated form the convention centre and the centre began inviting and hosting conventions. A tourist hotspot in New Orleans travel deals, New Orleans Morial Convention centre was renovated recently.
