The official U.S. Census for New Orleans City shows that the total population is 484,674 with 46.85% of them and majority with 53.15% female. The report shows that the topography of Big Easy is highly prone to storm surge flooding on Lake Pontchartrain the New Orleans area. Most of the city is below sea level keeping it open to the effects of major hurricanes despite the presence of levees and sea walls protecting the city.
